The Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services awarded the Arc a $199,730 grant for the purchase of a shredding truck. The purpose of the grant is to employ people with severe disabilities who are underserved. Through this grant, the Arc will employ at least eight individuals with intellectual disabilities.
TARCOG has awarded the Arc a $135,000 New Freedom transportation grant to assist families with transportation costs and to fund new equipment for Arc vehicles.
The Alabama Developmental Disabilities Council awarded the Arc a grant in the amount of $25,000 to be used for disability awareness. Funds from this grant will allow the Arc to employ individuals with intellectual disabilities to place disability awareness tips at over 150 sites in our community.
CAS Cares presented the Arc with funds in the amount $18,000 to be used for Infant and Toddler therapies. This grant will enhance the development of infants and toddlers 0-3 years of age.

The Arc of Madison County was awarded a $15,000 grant from the Huntsville Hospital Community Health Initiative. The grant provides medical and dental services for people with disabilities. This is the eighth year the Arc has received this grant, with money totaling over $85,000 for dental and medical care for people with disabilities.
Toyota donated $8,000 to the Arc to support Special Olympics. This helped to send athletes to the Alabama State Games.
The Employee Community Fund of Boeing awarded the Arc with a $4000 grant. This money was used to purchase classroom supplies.
The Alabama Civil Justice Foundation awarded the Arc a $2,000 grant for our Infant and Toddler program. This grant allowed the Arc to fund our music therapy program.
BFA Hope donated $1,000 to the Arc's Infant and Toddler music therapy program and awarded the Arc with a 2009 Award of Excellence!
Ross Brewer with the Allstate Foundation awarded a $1,000 grant to the Arc to be used for uniforms for the on-site shredding and recycling programs.
Many thanks to the following Alabama State Representatives and Senators that donated funds to be used for the purchase of a forklift and equipment to help the Arc obtain large contracts in order to employ people with disabilities:

Senator Richard Shelby helped The Arc secure a grant through the Department of Housing and Urban Development in the amount of $175,000 to aid in the construction of the new administrative office building.
A special thanks to Senator Paul Sanford for his additional $5,000 donation for program expenses. This will help fund equipment purchases for our classrooms and infant and toddler program.
Representative Howard Sanderford donated an additional $3,000 to be used to purchase program supplies for the Arc's infant and toddler program.
